Never News: AUDIENCE SURVEY EXTRAVAGANZA!!

Hello angels! This week on the newsletter, I, Producer Georgia, am sharing with you some of the findings from our end-of-year audience survey. It was so helpful to hear from all of you about what you love about Never Post, where you think we should pay more attention, and how you listen.

But before we get into the rest, a crucial announcement: we're changing our member tiers on February 1st! A lot of you said you wanted different options for how to support us, and BY GOD WE WILL DELIVER IT TO YOU! If you'd like to support us through the tiers we already have — $7 and $12 a month, respectively — we'd still love that, and you've got until January 31st to do it. If you stick with the tier you're currently at, nothing will change. You just won't be able to choose from those tiers come February.

And in February, there will be a gorgeous, stunning, fabulous new tier to rule them all, and in the darkness, bind them. Yes, one tier, at $4 a month. For this cost, you'll get everything, !!EVERYTHING!! that both our original $7 and $12 tiers offered. That means bonus content, ad-free episodes of Never Post, extended segments with all our fabulous guests, and MORE!

And if you're not interested in a monthly contribution, we're also offering the option to tip us one-time donations of any amount of money. You don't get the bonus content from tipping, but it's a nice option for those who'd rather not commit to monthly payments.

Again, all of this is coming February 1st! What joy! Ring the bell in the town square! Change is upon us!

Anyway, onto the audience survey, and what I have been referring to (privately, to myself) as graph-a-palooza. BEHOLD!

WHO EVEN ARE YOU

Looks like we're especially popular with people aged 19-34, a category I fit into and thus feel adequately represented by. Though, huge shout out to our contingent of 66+ year-old listeners, who may specifically be my parents.

HOW DO YOU LISTEN TO PODCASTS?

This was honestly the poll I was most interested in seeing, largely because I feel like I find out about podcasts through so many channels — my friends, other podcasts, etc. Would LOVE to talk to you freaky folks who, ahem, "search, like a hunter in the night" for new podcasts, but either way I'm glad you snared us in your comically large net.

TURNS OUT OUR REPUTATION PRECEDES US

The VAST majority of you found our show because you already knew about the work that we make elsewhere, whether that's Idea Channel, Hans's work with NYT, or beyond. Selfishly I want this to mean that thousands of you have been closely following my Instagram series called "skeleton watch" where I share photos of skeletons I see out in the world....but I know that is mere fantasy. A girl can dream!!!

YOUR FAVORITE SEGMENTS: AUDIO ESSAYS WITH PULLS

Across last year, we played a lot with segment format — monologues (without interviews), roundtable discussions, and interviews without any scripted VO. But beyond anything else, you preferred segments that were scripted audio essays with pulls from interviews. Expect more of that in 2025!

Some of my most favorite responses were the ones you wrote in, like which segments were your favorite from last year. What was especially cool about that was, at least through my perusal, there was no single frontrunner - there were mentions of megadungeons, the music platform roundtable, burnt toast audio, death and AI, the XOXO live show...honestly I think collectively, every single segment we made got mentioned at least one. Incredible!!

For the sake of not overwhelming you with graphs (though trust me, I'VE GOT MORE OF 'EM), I'll end it here. But enjoy this little peek into our community — I'm excited to spend another year with all of you.
